Tata Electronics has confirmed a significant data breach after hackers claimed to have stolen 630GB of sensitive data, which allegedly includes documents related to Apple and Tesla. This major supplier to both companies has acknowledged the cybersecurity incident that occurred weeks after the stolen data was advertised on a hacker forum.

Incident Details

The company stated that a cyberattack impacted parts of its IT infrastructure; however, it assured that operations and manufacturing were not disrupted. A spokesperson for Tata Electronics mentioned:

“A few weeks ago, Tata Electronics identified a cybersecurity incident on some of our systems. Our response protocols were deployed immediately, and the incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.”

Data Compromised

The World Leaks threat group claims to possess over 630GB of information, encompassing more than 204,300 files. A sample reviewed by TechCrunch reportedly included specifications for Apple suppliers and manufacturing documents for Tesla, although the authenticity and completeness of the leaked data have not been independently verified.

Ongoing Investigations

According to Reuters, Tata Electronics has notified some iPhone assembly employees about the breach, while Apple is currently investigating the incident. A ransom demand has also been made to the company. Notably, Tata Electronics accounts for roughly a third of Apple’s iPhone production in India, with Foxconn handling the remainder.

The World Leaks group, known for its extortion tactics, emerged in 2025 after rebranding from Hunters International, a ransomware gang active since 2023. They have shifted their focus entirely to data theft and extortion, claiming hundreds of victims to date.
